Welcome! I’m Sevda Tunaboylu, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Barcelona and McGill University. My research examines migration governance, temporary protection regimes, and the impacts of return, detention, and deportation policies across global contexts.
I currently lead the Horizon Europe funded project T-PROTECT which investigates the consequences of temporary protection systems in the United States, Mexico, South Africa, and the European Union. I also contribute to the coordination and research of the Horizon Europe MORE project on return and readmission policies.
Beyond academia, I am the co-founder of SOMA Association a migrant women–led nonprofit promoting wellbeing and social inclusion through sports, education, and mentoring.
My work is grounded in a commitment to evidence-based policy, human rights, and the lived experiences of migrants. Thank you for visiting, feel free to explore my research, publications, and projects.
I am open to collaborations on any academic, non-profit or creative projects, let's connect! sevdatunaboylu@ub.edu
